Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I won’t post any weekly meals this week but I thought I would drop by and say hi!
Last week, we finally decided to spend our Christmas away from home. We are always up for a road trip!
We ended up staying in Santa Barbara at the beautiful Belmont El Encanto hotel that has wonderful views. Unfortunately, it was too cold to really enjoy the place at its full potential but my husband and I decided it would be fun to come back on warmer days or even as a brief romantic day trip. We ended up having our Christmas eve dinner delivered in our room as the restaurant was fully booked, a minor drawback of last minute planning…but we had a lovely Christmas brunch on the terrace overlooking the Pacific ocean the next day.
We were not quite ready to go home at this point so we sat in the car and just started driving, unsure of our final destination but agreeing on going North. I had somewhere in the back of my mind the idea of going to Monterey so that’s where we set our sights. We found a great ocean view room at the beautiful Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa
We had a lovely time walking around Fisherman’s Wharf, driving on the beautiful coast and eating delicious food from the sea. Our daughter wasn’t quite ready yet for the Aquarium but overall it was great trip. I came home tired but rejuvenated, filled with purpose. Looking at our house, I decided it was a good time to start a thorough “spring cleaning” in the heart of winter. I started with my domain, the kitchen. Emptying up all the cupboards, cleaning everything up, throwing out a fair amount of stuff…I was amazed at how much I got done in so little time, which of course happens when you are focused.
I hope you have a terrific time ringing in 2016 and I will be back next week with fresh meals!
